After listening to the story, "The Day a Monster came to school", we created monsters, and learned a few textures by adding fur, slime, or spikes to our creations. I wanted students to take their artwork home that day, so the photos were taken while students were working on them. They drew their monsters going to school.
So cute! Definitely, the kids are using their imaginations and transferring what you've taught them to their artwork!
